How We Help The following is a list of some of the things we do to help our brothers and sisters in need. Charity Office Services Food Boxes: Families and individuals with a permanent address may receive a food box from Saint Vincent de Paul. They need to provide a picture identification or Social Security card for everyone in the household and proof of address. Sack Lunches: Sack lunches are provided daily for individuals that don’t have a permanent address and cannot stay at the mission. Clothing Vouchers: Families and individuals may receive a clothing voucher every four months. They must provide an ID or Social Security card for everyone receiving clothing. Furniture Vouchers: Normally, families or individuals may receive a furniture voucher for necessities once a year. They must show proof address and IDs. Recipients are to arrange a way to get the furniture home that day. Household Vouchers: Families and individuals may receive a household voucher once a year for necessities. They must show IDs or Social Security cards. IDs and Birth Certificates: Saint Vincent de Paul helps individuals obtain identification. The state of Montana requires an original social security card and a certified birth certificate. We will help send off for a birth certificate to any state. We may also help with divorce decrees, marriage certificates, and death certificates. Prescriptions: We help make referrals for needed maintenance medications or long term medications. We do not help with narcotics, pain or mental health medications. As funds allow, we help on an emergency basis only for a one-time assistance. Rental Assistance: As funds allow, we may help with partial payment of past due rent or first months rent. We only help with an unforeseeable emergency. We only help with rent to legal landlords. A home visit may be required. Utilities: As funds allow, we may help with electric, gas, water and propane bills. We can help with up to one month’s billing. We do not help with old bills from previous services. We do not help with phone bills unless it is medically necessary. A home visit may be required. Gasoline Vouchers: Current insurance, registration and a driver’s license are required to receive a gas voucher. Gas vouchers are primarily given for transportation to verifiable employment or medical emergencies. Bus Tokens: We may help with bus tokens on a monthly basis if there is a need for transportation to current employment or medical appointments. Out of Town Travel: We may help with out of town travel if it is a verified medical emergency. Vehicle Repairs: We may help with car repairs if there is proof of employment, and there is valid insurance, registration and a driver’s license. Representative Payee Services The Representative Payee program manages Social Security, SSI, SSDI, or VA payments for someone who is determined by the Social Security Administration as unable to manage his or her money. The main responsibility of a Representative Payee is to use the funds to pay for the current and foreseeable necessary living expenses of the beneficiary. The Representative Payee program works at all times with the best interest of the beneficiary in mind. While it is not required, the Social Security Administration encourages active involvement in the beneficiary’s life beyond managing finances. In addition to a referral from the Social Security or Veteran’s Administrations, St. Vincent de Paul requires a face to face interview in order to determine if our services would be the in the best interest of the client. Upon acceptance of a payee client, St. Vincent de Paul and the payee client enter into a contractual agreement for services. If you or someone you know is in need of Representative Payee services we encourage you to contact the Social Security Administration or Veteran’s Administration for further information. |
