Friends of the Poor Walk:

Hit the Pavement for the Poor!

What can you do to reduce poverty in Billings? Hit the Pavement for the Poor and join the Friends of the Poor Walk. St. Vincent de Paul’s First Annual FRIENDS OF THE POOR WALK is being held Saturday, September 27, 2008.

Why: More Americans than ever are living below the poverty line. By taking part in the Friends of the Poor Walk, you can help to raise local and national awareness of the challenges faced by the nation’s poor. We invite the whole community to come out for this spectacular event. For more information, call 406-252-1855. 100% of the proceeds will benefit low-income residents, the homeless, and people faced with a crisis.

What: Put on your athletic shoes and Hit the Pavement for the Poor during the St. Vincent de Paul Society’s Friends of the Poor Walk. You can register at www.friendsofthepoorwalk.org or call Harry or Randy at 406-252-1855.

The walk is two miles long and will be on the bike path starting at the METRAPARK upper parking lot. It will be an eventful day. Bishop Michael Warfel will be walking with us and then celebrating Mass with a reception afterwards. September 27th is the 175th Anniversary of the founding of the Society and is also the feast day of St. Vincent de Paul so not only can you help the poor but you can also honor a man who gave his life to helping the poor.

All are welcome.

Where: The walk will begin and end in the upper parking lot of the METRAPARK. Mass with reception afterwards will be at St. Patrick’s Co-Cathedral.

When: The Walk begins at 9:00 a.m. and Mass at 12:00 noon with the reception to follow.
